Returning Combat Veterans

Eligibility:

OEF/OIF (Operation Enduring/Iraqi Freedom) Benefits extended.  For more information click here:  http://www.oefoif.va.gov/healthcarebenefits.asp

Veterans are eligible if they served on active duty in a theater of combat operations during a period of war after the Gulf War or in combat against a "hostile" force during a period of hostilities after November 11, 1998 and have been discharged under other than dishonorable conditions. If you are in the National Guard and Reserve component you are eligible as a combat veteran, if you were ordered to active duty by a federal declaration, served the full period of which you were called or ordered to active duty, and have separated from active military service under other than dishonorable conditions.

Benefits:

This benefit covers all illnesses and injuries, except those clearly unrelated to military service, free of charge for a period of two years from the date of discharge. Co-payments may be charged for treatment of non-combat related conditions (common cold, injuries from accidents that occurred after discharge or disorders that existed before joining the military).
If a veteran did not receive a pre-separation dental exam from the military, then the veteran is eligible to receive a dental exam from the VA within 90 days of their discharge from active duty.

Care Management Services, how we can help you:

The OEF/OIF Case Managers and TPA provides post deployment health screenings, case management and counseling services to OEF/OIF veterans and active duty service members.  We can help coordinate your healthcare.  The Case Manager works directly with each veteran/service member to ensure the veteran/service member maximizes his or her VA benefits and services. Together, the Case Manager or TPA and veteran/service member also address physical, emotions, and social concerns that are associated with being a combat veteran adjusting to civilian life.  If you would like to arrange an appointment with a care management team member, contact:

Are you concerned about ongoing readjustment challenges, combat stress, and symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or Depression?  You can take a screen to see if you have symptoms that are commonly associated with a specific mental health condition or with stress. The fact that you have symptoms of a mental health condition does not necessarily mean that you have a mental health condition or that a mental health condition is causing you difficulty in functioning in a major area of your life, such as your family, personal relationships, work life or social settings.  To learn more, click here: https://www.myhealth.va.gov/mhvPortal/anonymous.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=mentalHealth
