VA Long Beach Healthcare System
► Starting February 23, 2019 (permanent change)
Portions of three roads (Elm, Sam Johnson and Carob) will be converted to one-way roads, so one of their lanes can become side-road parking. That’s 80 more parking spaces!
► February 15 – March 30, 2019
Gate 3 and portions of both Pine and Palm roads by the construction zone of our future Mental Health buildings (southwest of our campus) will be closed to allow underground construction work.
► Starting soon
The Old Tennis Court parking lot, across from Building 133, will be re-opened. That’s 40 more parking spaces!
Construction fencing has been placed along the Southwest corner of Pine Road. As a result, pedestrian traffic traveling North/South adjacent the Fisher House is no longer accessible due to safety concerns for our employees and Veterans. All pedestrian traffic coming to and from parking lots on the North end of the campus, must enter the facility via the entrance located in building 2. Building 2 can be reached by walking past building 46 or via Carob Road.
Construction of our new Mental Health buildings on what used to be Parking Lots A and J has begun. Both lots have already been turned over to the construction firm and are now permanently closed. Concurrently, construction of our new Community Living Center has also begun.
Veterans and visitors – To help ease our parking challenges, we have expanded our valet parking services and are looking for additional capacity. We will experience parking challenges off and on over the course of the construction process which we expect to last for up to 24 months. In order to help reduce your parking frustrations, we highly encourage you take advantage of our FREE Valet service to make your visit with us less stressful. When able, we also suggest that you arrive early to allow for additional time to park and reach your appointment location safely. Additionally, you may also park in the North Parking Lots, and walk or ride our shuttle bus service to your desired location.
We apologize in advance for the inconvenience, and thank you for your support in improving our infrastructure and the needs of your fellow Veterans.
