Calling an extension? Dial 1 (not 2) before it.

Thursday, March 26, 2020

VA Long Beach Healthcare System has switched its phone system to improve connectivity issues.

In this new system, callers are now required to dial the number 1 prior to a four-digit extension. Before, they had to dial the number 2 and then the four-digit extension.

BEFORE: 562-826-8000, ext. 2-XXXX

NOW: 562-826-8000, ext. 1-XXXX

No other changes have been made, and all other options remain the same. This upgrade also doesn’t affect direct lines.

As a reminder, Veterans are also asked to consider using MyHealtheVet as a secure and quick way to speak with their health care teams about non-urgent matters. Due to the COVID-19 response, the facility is experiencing a very high volume of incoming calls, and it is important to keep lines available for the Veterans who need us most.

Need help deciding if you need to come to the hospital? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has developed a Coronavirus Self-Checker online tool, available 24/7.

Have a question? VA has compiled the most frequently asked questions for routine or non-urgent questions and made it available online, 24/7.

Thank you for doing your part to protect yourself and your fellow Veteran.
