New Director Named for Desert Pacific Healthcare Network

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Marie Weldon, as the new Director of the VA’s Desert Pacific Healthcare Network.  Weldon will oversee the operations of five health care systems located in San Diego, Long Beach, Los Angeles and Loma Linda, California and Las Vegas, Nevada along with 31 community clinics spread throughout the Network.

“We are excited to bring Ms. Weldon on board as the new director of the VA Desert Pacific Health Care Network.  Her sound leadership qualities and proven experience will be valuable assets for the Network, facilities, the employees, and most importantly, for the Veterans we are honored to serve,” said Janet Murphy, Acting Deputy Under Secretary for Health for Operations and Management. “She will begin her appointment on March 22, 2015.”

"We are grateful that Ms. Weldon’s wealth of knowledge and experience will continue to be used to serve VISN 22 Veterans," said Murphy.

Ms. Weldon joined the VA more than 25 years ago; most recently she served as Director of the South Texas Veterans Health Care System. She received a Master of Science in Health Care Administration from the University of St. Francis and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Iowa.
