June 24, 2016

Print Version (PDF)

LONG BEACH, Calif. – VA Long Beach Healthcare System (VALBHS) will host nearly 300 students and their chaperons for a day of service to the Veterans hospital in Long Beach. Coming from Alaska, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington, the student visitors will provide a labor force of service on projects across the medical center grounds on June 24, 2016 at 1 p.m.

Following a brief reception, the students will plant flowers, spread mulch, clean and repot plants, lay paving bricks, and design flower gardens throughout the campus.

Participants are members of the Far West Region of Jack and Jill of America. The Jack and Jill Organization’s mission is dedicated to nurturing future African-American leaders through leadership development, volunteer services, philanthropic giving and community duty.

The visit aligns with VA Secretary Robert McDonald’s commitment to engage our communities in partnership with the VA to support our shared Veterans.
