New Medical Center Director Named for Long Beach VA

LONG BEACH, CA — The Department of Veterans Affairs is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Fisher, CPA, as the new Director of the VA Long Beach Healthcare System. Fisher will oversee delivery of health care to more than 52,000 Veterans and an operating budget of $464 million.

“We are excited to bring Mr. Fisher on board as the new director of VA Long Beach Healthcare System. His sound leadership qualities and proven experience will be valuable assets for the facility, the employees and volunteers, and most importantly, for the Veterans we are honored to serve,” said Stan Johnson, MHA, FACHE, VA Desert Pacific Healthcare Network Director. “He will begin his appointment on June 29, 2014.”

Fisher joined the VA more than 14 years ago; most recently he served as Deputy Network Director of the VA Northwest Healthcare Network. He is a Certified Public Accountant and received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of New Orleans.

VA Long Beach Healthcare System (VALBHS) is one of the Department of Veterans Affairs largest tertiary care facilities and is classified as a Clinical Referral Level 1B facility. VALBHS is a part of the VA Desert Pacific Healthcare Network, which includes facilities in Las Vegas, Loma Linda, San Diego and Greater Los Angeles.
